VS.NET C# project wont unpack
|
|
|
| After spending nearly 4 days trying to get CS2002 installed on my CS2002,
only to run into a relentless array of Error 1720 problems, I now have it
installed and fully Feature Pack 1'd up! However, having tried to create a
new Commerce Project in VS.NET, it will not unpack correctly. Firstly it
bombed out having only created half the files needed in the virtual directory
(in fact, it seems to have died at the point of creating global.asax.cs) and
referred me to the pup.log before saying "could not locate site at server
http://myserver/TheMusicShop". To which I cursed for about 20 - 25 minutes. I
then tried creating another project, only for it to hang at the 'Creating
global resources for data warehouse' stage. Which it's done twice now. Has
anyone had any experience of these problems? I really can't understate how
*unbelievably* frustrated I am with Commerce Server, I've NEVER come across a
piece of software which is so hard to install!!!! So please, before I lose
even more of my hair... someone....

| Hello, and sorry for the late reply.
I can't say what the error is from the symptoms you describe. It could be
that some dependencies don't exist on the server where you're unpacking.
I'd recommend that you use the commerce site packager to unpack your site,
then open up the unpacked solution file directly. If the unpack fails, you
should get more information on what went wrong when you use the site
packager. The project wizard in Visual Studio is really just a convenience
tool around these two manual steps... sorry to hear it hasn't been serving
that purpose for you.
I also recall there being some error in the wizard when you name your site
using spaces or '_' characters. If you have those characters, try removing
them then re-packing your site.
Hope this helps,
David
