CS2002 to CS2007 Site Migration
|

| Sachhha 2006-09-07, 7:33 pm |
| Hi Everybody,
I'm trying to migrate a site based on the CS2002 Starter Site to 2007.
I tried following the instructions of the CS2007 Migration Guide,
particularly the "CS2002 Startersite migration example". Basically I did:
Uninstall everything as described: OK
Install SQL Server 2005: OK
Restore the saved database (MSCS_Admin and Co): OK
Install the prerequisites and CS2007.(question: is CS2007 installing on the
restored MSCS_Admin database?)
Run Configure CS2007: OK
Run the CS2007 Migration tool: OK
Extract the webservices from the CSharp Site: NOK, the tool freezes after
each service decompression
Follow the post installation steps according CS2007 install guide: logins,
pools, ...
By now I have the following problems
The database config does not seem ok: No MarketingList Database, somes
database roles missing: no InventoryRuntime in product_catalog,
Profile_schema_reader , Profile_Runtime...
There was no Catalog_Editor Role in the Catalog Web service xml
authorization store...and so on
By now, I can access the Catalog Service but I still have problems on the
other services
Question, is the above migration process wrong ?
Thanks for you answers,
Sacha

| Answering your first question:
Install the prerequisites and CS2007.(question: is CS2007 installing on the
restored MSCS_Admin database?)
That depends on how you configure the product after installation. The
selection of database happens during configuration step. You should select
the restored MSCS_Admin database.
In answering the other questions:
MarkingList database and some roles are set up when you unpup CSharpSite.
Try running the Site Packager again to unpack CSharpSite.pup.
After this is done, you will have to run the Uprade Wizard to upgrade your
existing resources for them to be functional for CS2007.
For reference, the migration guide can be downloaded from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...F9F7-C849-4B24-

If you run into issues during the unpup step, please check the pup log for
more detailed error message. It's usually located at C:\pup.log.

The Migration Guide does not mention this step,
Do I Have to unpup the CSharpSite choosing the restored database ? Should
the sitename be the same as the one which will be migrated?

I fixed my problem concernant the unpup of business applications, You have
to delete the existing business applications in CS Manager first.
Kind Regards,
Sacha.

[Ning Lin] Actually, since you said the extract web services step failed,
you should only try to redo that portion
again from the site packager wizard, but it looks like you already fixed
this problem.
My comment about creating MarketingList database and db roles is not
entirely correct. They could be created
not only during unpacking, but also when you run the Upgrade wizard. Sorry
about the confusion about having
to unpup again! You don't have to other than for fixing the above problem.

| Thanks again for you comments. I definitely fixed my web services problems
I checked the Upgrade wizard tool log and got no errors.
Do you have any idea why I don't get the marketinglist database and the
database roles (InventoryRuntime in product_catalog, Profile_schema_reader,
Profile_Runtime...) created ? is it normal for a migrated site ?
Kind regards,
Sacha.

| Hi Sachhha!
First at all forgive my terrible english!
I have similar problems, to fix the related Inventory roles i unpack it from
the CSharpSite and apparently works well, i don't have the chance to test
this solition because i still have problems with the migration of Profiles,
but try it, maybe it can work for you.
For the Profiles roles problem the approach that i am used is coping them by
hand, is there any batter solution?
For the databases about Marketing system i unpack the resource from the
CSharpSite either.
greetings...
