Hi there

I am having the same problem as Andy in few earlier threads. The Service for
the CatalogWebService.asmx can't be run. In the event log I get the following
error:

SOURCE: Commerce Server Business UI
"Microsoft.CommerceServer.UI.ControlLibrary.ServiceConnectionException: The

I get this both on a system where SQL2005 and CS2006Beta 1 are installed AND
when I have them both seperate.

Other things that I have done are

1) The user account is set as an Admin on the system (and BOTH systems when
trying on the split installation)
2) The allow anon users in IIS has been disabled
3) The II_WPG has been set
4) The CSWPA has been set up as instructed too.
5) CSharpSite pup has been run
6) StarterKit has been installed

Anyone got a clue what's going on? I am sure I must have missed something
simple but I have gone back through the install process and double checked
everything (And even re installed it)

When left every minute the event log show also the following:

SOURCE Commerce Staging:

"Error occurred with the database CSSLocalEvents. Error is: [42000]
[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot modify the design of table
'Events'. It is in a read-only database.."

I presume this is something to do with the previous fault, but I thought I
would add it as it is looking for an Access Db which isn't installed.

Thanks in advance

Here are few things you might want to check:

1. has the CatalogWebService been enabled for "Integrated Windows Auth"?
2. Identity of the ApplicationPool running the catalogWebService. This
identoty must have permissions on the catalog database.

Thanks,
Sudha

I have redone ALL these on all the test servers. I am still getting the same
result.

On the server without SQL2005 on it, I can not even run the .asmx service on
it's own as it. I get :
"Line 147: Uri uri = new Uri(soapAddress.Location, false);"

Which is I presume a setup on the SQL box.

I have turned off every security feature that I can find on the test box all
to no avale
How come it can install itself, add the databases but can't setup a basic
user account with out trudging through such a long winded process? I relies
it is only a beta but I have to be able to evaluate it and put forward a
business case for CS2006 and this is not helping.

Gareth,

A few things to check.

1) Make sure that the account that the web services run under (App Pool) has
write permissions for the Azman policy files such as the
"CatalogAuthorizationStore.xml" file.

2) Make sure the account that the web services run under (App Pool) has
write permissions for the ASP.NET temp folder usually found in
C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files.

3) Make sure the account that you are running under when trying to use the
web services has been setup properly in the Authorization Policy using
azman.msc.

4) Make sure the account that the web services run under has db_owner rights
on the MSCS_Admin, MSCS_CatalogScratch, StarterSite_marketing, ,
StarterSite_marketing_lists, StarterSite_productcatalog,
StarterSite_profiles, StarterSite_transactionconfig,
StarterSite_transactions databases.

5) Make sure the account that the web services run under is a member of the
IIS_WPG group.

If these are all set the web service still doesn't work send me an email at
jtlynch@houston[dot]rr[dot]com and I'll see what I can do to help you debug
this. By the way, it took me three tries on separate VPCs before I got the
install and configuration exactly correct and working. I'm sure the RTM
version will be more straight-forward.

Found it!

For some reason the path was set to
"%SystemRoot%\Microsoft.Net\%SystemRoot%etc etc etc"

This happened on BOTH the installs that I have been working on (a bug
perhaps which I'll report, or it could be the way the servers where set up).
I still haven't got the one system working (the one without SQL2005 on the
same box) as it has a "CSPerfCounters Component : Error with registry -
'error reading registry'" Error.

But at least it's a different error

Cheers for the check list though, as it made me go back and check everything
from a new short list.

Gareth,

I think the Perf Counters errors are relatively benign and can be ignored
for now.

Hi Jeff

It wont let CS run.
I get a .Net runtime 2.0 error before it throws it's toys out the cot and
stops of:

"Event Type: Error
Event Source: .NET Runtime 2.0 Error Reporting
Event Category: None
Event ID: 5000

pszqoadhx1u5zahbhohghldgiy4qixhx, P10 NIL."

I have tried repairing .Net framework 2.0 and it's still coming up.

I think there is something more fundemental wrong.

I think you're right. I'd recommend a wipe and reload just to make sure all
the prereqs get installed properly.

Hi Jeff

Now the other boxes is doing the same thing.
Error is as follows:
..Net Runtime 2.0 Error
"EventType clr20r3, P1 cshealthmonitor.exe, P2 6.0.1.0, P3 43a3c144, P4
mscorlib, P5 2.0.0.0, P6 4333ab80, P7 4052, P8 27, P9
pszqoadhx1u5zahbhohghldgiy4qixhx, P10 NIL."

I would post this to the Beta program but it's not letting me in for some
reason.

Gareth
