| Every time I try to install Commerce Server 2002 on our Windows 2003 Server I get the following error:
Microsoft Commerce Server 2002 Developer Edition
Error 1720. There is a problem with this windows installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.
If I ever get the first installed, I could move onto installing Commerce Server 2002 SP2, SP3, and enabling the required services.
I've followed all the directions on
http://www.microsoft.com/commercese...eb_install_cota
without any luck - i.e. installing the prereqs of:
2003 critical updates
VB6.0 Runtime SP5
SQL Server 2K SP3
SQL Server 2K Analysis Services SP3
XP office Web components
Visual Studio .NET 2003
I have been trying to do the install without using the Active Directory Services and have been specifying a specific username and password for SQL Server authentication instead, although I think it fails regardless of which option I choose.
Thanks,
Burt

| This seems to have been either a security problem, or is related to installing via Terminal Services. I tried numerous times to reinstall everything through Terminal Services (sometimes as my userid, sometimes as the local admin) to no avail. When I ins
talled only locally as the local Administrator, it worked.

| Thank you for using Microsoft Newsgroups.
It is usually a good troubleshooting practice when using TS to attempt
locally. You remove the TS layer and get an actual error or install
successfully. Also review kb article Q255582 -
