I am deploying a CS2k2 site which will be installed on Win2k3 servers. Is AD
a must requirement for the SQL and IIS authentication? I will be deploying
the site in a 3-tier network.
Thanks.

Thank you for using Microsoft Newsgroups.

For a true 3-tier network with Integrated Authentication, you do need
Active Directory. I have seen configuration without AD but then you are
compromising security.

Devo:

It's not a must. In fact, there are many environments which won't allow
their front end web servers to be domain members. In those cases using SQL
authentication works just fine.
