I am looking to perform an OS and hardware upgrade on an existing CS2002
installation. I am currently running CS2k2 Standard on two load balanced
Win2k front end (web) servers connecting to a Win2k3 SQL OLTP server (catalog
db) and a Win2k3 SQL OLAP (DW) server. I want to swap the two web servers
with new, dual processor hardware running Win2k3.

I understand the following contradicting issues…

- The CS2002 web server installation needs an existing CS db to connect to.
- CS2002 standard will not allow me to install an additional web server into
the current environment.

What is the best approach for swapping this hardware and installing a new
instance of a web server with minimal risk to the production environment? Is
there a process for replacing an existing web server in a CS2k2 Standard
environment? I’m looking for any reference point or instructions containing
the proper steps that I should be taking.

Thanks in advance,

Justin
