Hello!

I use CS2002 + SP3 + FP1.

When installing Commerce Server I specify admin database on a
remote database server. After that I create a new MSCS_Admin database on
a local machine.

Then I run admin_schema.sql script on MSCS_Admin and after that try
to install Marketing resource. It fails, and I get an error in pup.log:

[13:11:49] Error importing object data for Marketing from file
C:\Documents and Settings\myuser\Local Settings\Temp\Marketing
80004005:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and
no default driver specified

Marketing resource is from StarterSite2002_FP1.pup.

If I try the same operation on the admin database that was created
during Commerce Server Installation, it works.

Why doesn't it work with the local MSCS_Admin database? How to make
it work?

Most like the issue here is that the admin_schema.sql script does not create
the defintion required for the Marketing resource. This definition is only
created during the installation of the FP1 and since you changed the DB after
this installation, the definition is missing. Try running FP1 in a repair
mode with your local MSCS_Admin DB or reinstall FP1 this time referencing
your local server.

That is exactly the issue in question.
FP1 has an admin_schema_discount_resource.sql script that you can apply (in
addition to the base admin_schema.sql script) to set up the definition of
the Marketing Resource.
The recommended way of doing this is still to install FP1 and point it to
an existing CS2002 admin database.

Thanks,

madhur
