| Hi Gaylen,
Yes if you follow the XP Dev edition guidelines you should be fine. The
only thing you might run into is the limitations that XP has built in such
as only 1 site allowed.
It would be best to develop on the same OS that you plan to deploy to, and
if you do use a server OS you then have much less limitations.

Subject: CS2K2 Dev Edition on XP Pro SP2 Installation Tips?

Anyone have a good set of instructions that are specific to installing the
Dev Edition onto XP Pro in workgroup mode? I have been all over
microsoft.com and msdn and have found many references to installation
guidelines such as this one
http://www.microsoft.com/commercese...002/installatio
n_guide.htm#cs_web_install_vqrl
but they are much too general and try to cover too many platforms which is
then compounded by the various commerce server editions.
I've got the OS with SQL 2000 Dev Edition and SQL AS installed and both
have
SP3 applied. I assumed I also needed to install both the XML 3.0 and 4.0
parsers with their latest SPs from reading those instructions...and the VB6
distributable runtime? Then I installed CS by running the
SetupDevEdition.exe from within the SP3 package of CS2K2 and pointed it to
the CS2K2 DevEd msi package. I was able to successfully complete the
installation, however once I unpacked a the sample VB PUP it was clear that
things weren't quite right. I didn't have a Data Warehouse for one and
most
of the menus in the BizDesk were broken. Oddly the site unpacked w/o any
errors.
Anyone have clean steps on installing this edition on this platform alone
with no domain involved?
