| Hello Gurus:
We are in the process of moving to new Ecommerce Tool. I really aprpeciate
your advise on following.
What are the improements Microsoft has made in Commercer Server 2007
compared to Commerce server 2002?
I was reading articles on Commercer server 2002, and found that commerce
server lacks advanced ordering capabilities, such as
"Commerce Server falls short in other areas, particularly in fulfillment. It
doesn't support shipping verification, order fulfillment, event notification,
or digital fulfillment capabilities. Nor does it address returns processing,
exception handling, customer support, or guided-selling capabilities."
And also Other features, such as the ability to create recurring and
scheduled orders and to handle complex product configurations, require
customization.
Are there any improvments Microsoft has made regarding this issue in
Commerce server 2007.

| Sanjay,
Remember that Commerce Server 2007 isn't meant to be an out-of-the-box
commerce solution but a set of tools that will jump start your development
of a custom commerce site. In CS2007 they did make improvements in features
to enabled guided selling (new search types in the product catalog system)
and order processing (web services and BizTalk adapters to expose order data
to back-end order management systems).
I would recommend watching a few of the recent webcasts
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/webcasts) to get an idea of where the areas of
focus have been in this release.
Cheers,
Colin
