Author General Activity Statistics - First Visit parameter

Hi,

In My General Activity Statistics report I have some odd data.
If I sum "First Visit" and "Repeat Users" it doesn't match the "Distinct
Users" counter for any given day.
My guess is that if a user visited the site for the first time and came
later that day than he will be counted in "Repeat Users" also.
Am I right?
If not, why the counters don't match?

The measures are independent -- and a user could be counted in both.
