Report Caching task/Office Web Component popup
|

| Hi all,
When I try to run the report caching task, I get a popup
from Office Web Components saying 'This website is using
your identity to access a data source. If you trust this
website, click OK to continue, otherwise click Cancel'.
After clicking the OK button, it keeps popping up
constantly.
Looking in the Event Log, I see that the
MSSQLServerOLAPService is logging messages like 'User
JOHNDOE opened connection 4 from <Server>'
Anybody any hints or clues on how to avoid this?
TIA,
Arnold Jan van der Burg

| Thank you for using Microsoft Newsgroups.
Not a known issue, I would suggest you review the installation document at
http://www.microsoft.com/commercese...002/Install.asp
. You either do not have all the required components installed or OLAP
over HTTP is not configured correctly if you have it enabled.
OLAP is using credentials that are not valid, that is why you are getting
prompted multiple times. If it is a single server deployment then check
the required installation components. If a distributed deployment make
sure you determine if you need OLAP over HTTP and the configuration. Also,
if distributed make sure you can access the analysis server from the web
server to the SQL Analysis server.

| Hi Maria,
It's a single server deployment, but if I configure the=20
data warehouse to run via HTTP, I don't have any trouble=20
runnning reports.

| Thank you for using Microsoft Newsgroups.
This case would probably require for you to open a support incident. The
reason is that there are several things to check. I will outline some of
them below. The user doesn't have the right permissions but like any other
permissions issue. It is a needle in a hay stack.
- Check the permissions that the user User ID client connection string.
If it works when you have OLAP over HTTP set then that user has the right
permissions.
- Try to create the DTS package under those credentials if possible.
- How are you accessing the reports? I imagine that if you are having to
set "OLAP over HTTP", you are going accross domains. If so, I would need
to set it up to see if that is a requirement for "report caching" when
going accross domains. I couldn't find anything that requires it but I
would imagine if going accross domain. The same rules apply.
- Do you have Office Web Components in the computer that is running the
Report Caching DTS task? If not install them, they are included in Office
XP or by running OWC10.exe
