We have just installed CS2002 and would like to start target some messages to the users on features they can use in our new CS enviroment. Is campaigns the best method and if so how?

Hi, there,

To decide whether campaign system fits your need or not, try to answer the following 2 questions:

1) by what criteria you want to target? Campaign system target campaign data to profile system. So in most case, you want to target stuff to users in
your profile system, this is a yes.

2) where do you store your "message"? Campaign system can only personalize the data stored in its own system (for example, ad and discount). if
you want to personalize other system's data, for example, personalize catalog based on different users. it is probably a no (not saying it is un-
feasible. but it requires quite a bit customized work).

If you decide to store those info in your campaign system, then looks like you are on right track. To get the balls rolling, unpup a commmerce site
(they are delivered in commerce server SDK, a good sample would be the retail site.) Then install the bizdesk app on your workstation. there is
"Campaign Manager" module to help you create/manage your campaign data.

Detailed steps can be found in commerce server documentation: Commerce Server tutorials --> Business-to-Consumer Tutorial --> Creating a
Marketing Campaign.
