| The answer lies within the RecordPromoCodes component.
This component
1. Loops over all the promo_code_info structures in the orderform and sets
the promo_applied property to true if any discount was applied to the
OrderForm that was qualified by the discount
2. Walks the item._itemlevel_discounts_applied and
item._orderlevel_discounts_applied lists and adds the promo code definition
ID of the promotion code that was used to qualify the discount.
I think the only information this may not give you is whether the promotion
code is public or private. You'd need to keep a mapping from promotion
code definition ID to this information, I think.
The above information can be found in the documentation for the reference
page of the RecordPromoCodes component (ignore the part about "Order System
Object Model" - that information didn't apply to Feature Pack 1 and should
not have appeared in the documentation).

I am creating a private coupon of usage limit 1 as follows.IF order total
is >0 give 100 dollars off.Now suppose the users purchase is only for 50
dollars .I want to create a new private coupon which will say 50 dollars
off .Is there some way of knowing how much was discount value obtained
from the coupon.Is there some way of creating a private coupon of some
defenition like the above on the fly.
can i seperate the discount values obtained from private and public
coupons.
