Hi,

Is there a mechanism whereby using an export and import
we can change the "product" type definition of a product ?

AND

Would FP1 Catalog Manager allow me to assign multiple
products to a category in a single operation ?

Regards.
Vinayak Tadas[MSFT]

2004-05-20, 5:42 pm

1. You should first delete the product from the catalog and then import
it with the new definition. Your xml should look something like
<Catalog name="Catalog1" variantUID="Variantcode"
productUID="ProductCode" DefaultLanguage="en-US" ReportingLanguage="en-US"
languages="en-US">
<Product DateChanged="2004-05-20T12:30:28" listprice="0"
action="delete" ProductCode="Book" />
<Product Definition="newdefinition" listprice="0" ProductCode="Book"
.................................. >
</Product>
</Catalog>

2. Yes you can assign multiple products to a category in a single
operation.

Thanks

We did not add the CSV import functionality to FP1. You can script that
using COM CatalogManager object. Do you use CSV imports and exports for
your catalog system?

Thanks

CSV Import is the simplest of things when one is=20

Instead of converting the CSV to XML you can use the COm objects or the PIA
to import the CSV file itself. Wouldn't that be much simpler?
