Author Sequencing in Virtual Catalogs

Sequencing in Base catalogs works fine, but what about sequencing in virtual
catalogs. The option of sequencing is gone when working with virtual catalogs
and also the sequenceinformation set up in the base catalog is lost. Checked
this by inspecting the "rank" field in <virtual catalog>_CatalogHierarchy.
When I modified this field, the categories where ranked and thereby able to
sort them. But this information is lost when a rebuild of the virtual catalog
is done.

Why is it not possible to rank/sequence categories/products in a virtual
catalog?
And why doesn't the sequenceinformation from the base catalog get propagated
to the virtual catalogs?
Finally, how can I solve sequencing when operating with virtual catalogs?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Due to some constraints the sequencing feature could not be added to
Virtual catalogs in FP1.
