I'm trying to find out how Catalog Manager connecting to a remote server
sends the login infomation. I've setup Catalog Manager a number of times.

I have the correct info on the remote server in AZMAN but how does the
client computer send this info to the remote server.

Is there some way to force Catalog Manager to a login prompt? I'm not
getting this on the installation I last did.

The Catalog Manager uses the current user credentials. If you have logged
in to the client machine with a domain account that is recognized by the
IIS on the web server (that hosts Catalog Web services), the LOGIN prompt
will not appear. However if you login to the client machine with a local
mahicne account and then launch the Catalog Manager, you will prompted for
credentails.

Thanks
Sudha

The problem was that even though the current user credentials should not have
been recognized the login prompt did not appear. I was able to get this
working eventually by pulling up the connection string in a browser. That
launched the login prompt. I chose remember this login option and now Catalog
Manager connects with the proper permissions.

I'll do some more checking on our remote Domain to see if I can find out if
there is a default permisson from our local domain to the remote domain.

Thanks for you input.

When dealing with Catalog Manager served from a remote domain, we typically
configure the IIS security for basic authentication and disable Integrated
Windows authentication. We do this in conjunction with SSL Required so the
login information isn't passed in clear text. This configuration always
forces the login prompt.

Here's what I've found that get's me over this problem.

Launching Catalog Manager would not activate the login prompt. However if
you use the Catalog Manger connection URL in the clients web browser this
will activate the login prompt. I then enter the credentials for the user and
save the login.
