Moving just the catalog
|
|
|
| I am using a commercer server installation just for the catalog
management. (There is a reason for this, but thats not really
important.) I would like to be able to move just the catalog to a new
box. Is there a way to manually setup a commerce catalog without doing
a pup of my test site? I am trying to use the Feature pack as well. I
would like to setup a catalog, then do an import from the test site.
Thank you.

| Since you are using the feature pack you have multiple options:
* Use Application Center and the staging feature in CS2002 FP1
* Use Catalog Import/Export
* Use PuP to pack/unpack just the catalog resource (which under the covers
uses Catalog Import/Export)

| You can use the incremental export and import feature for doing this.
The Catalog Manager UI in the Feature pack allows you to export records in
the catalog that were changed after a certain date. You can do the following
1. Create your catalog on source machine. Export it and import it on the
destination machine.
2. Keep a table in the catalog database which records the time the catalog
was last transferred.
3. Subsequently export only the records changed after the date recorded in
step 2. Import the file in destination and update the date in step 2
Thanks
