We have a couple of different product definitions in our catalog. We need to
relate these products with one another, however we need to add qualifications
for these relationships. How do we do this?

Ex:

ProductDefinition A has products:
A1, A2, ...... A10

ProductDefinition B has products:
B1, B2,.........B10

Now products in the first group fit into the products in the second group
and in multiple different ways. For example Product A1 could fit into product
B1 in the front, center and back, into B2 in center only and B3 in front and
back.

Also, somewhere we need to be able to restrict the options to say front,
center, back, inner, outer. This way the folks managing the catalog have to
choose from the list and cannot add their own.

Thanks in advance.

What you need is not provided out of the box.
However you should be able to do this programatically
When you add a relationship you an specify a name, description and a rank
for the relationship
Maybe you can use one of the above fields for representing your business
logic.

Thanks
