Hi there,

I'm currently running Commerce Server 2000 (hope someone's out there who
still remembers this version).

I have a test environment and a production environment who are exactly
alike, except that their databases is placed on different servers. My
production environment works as it should but whenever I try to use use the
ProfileService on the test environment I get an error.

GetProfile(myEmailAddress, "UserObject") returns the following error: Object
Required. I can call GetProfile(myEmailAddress, "UserObject", False) and
then I don't get an error. But the userobject is nothing even though I know
my user is in the database.

Any help is appreciated.

:-) Maria

Hi Maria,

There isn't enough information here to know what is going on. When and how
is the ProfileService being initialized? Is GetProfile being called
directly on the ProfileService, or is this a wrapper method that you've
implemented? Have you verified that your connection strings for the
profiles resource are correct in the production environment? Do you have
any call stack of the exception that is occuring?

Withouat any additional information, I'd only be guessing at the problem.
But the two behaviors you are describing below are expected. If you call
with 'false' as the 3rd parameter, the method will return NULL. If you
call with 'true' (the default), you will get an exception.

Thanks,
David
