Hi,

We are in the process of two different sites in the same commerce Server
namely, site A and site B. Both the sites will be accessing the same Database
as one will be using the base catalog and other the virtual catalog.

We want the users to be uniquely identified for each site. As of now, since
the Email Id is used by CS as the username, we are not able to use the same
email id for both the sites, as they are stored in the same database.

Can you please give your suggestions ?

Thanks

Joy

Hello Joy

I'm curious - why do you need to use the same profiles database for both
sites? I'm not a catalog expert, but I believe both your sites could use
the same catalog resource, but have different profiles databases. I'd
recommend trying to have different profile stores for both sites.

Thanks,
David

Hello David,

Thanks for your response. We have tried to implement as you said. But we are
not able to succeed as we are not able to fund a way to have differnt
profiles databases but have single catalog database.

We have ways to create multiple catalogs. But we are not able to do
similiarly with Profile databases.

We will be grateful to you, if you can provide us the steps to do so.

Looking forward for your response.

Thanks

Joy

Hi Joy,

There is no way that you can use different profile database under one
commerce server site. You can have multiple catalogs under one site as
commerce server creates catalog tables dynamically. But for storing
profile it uses UserObject & Addresses table which are created during
installation of commerce server site.

I would suggest you to create different commerce server site for each
store instead of using common catalog. The only advantage you can gain
having one catalog is that you can change products in one place. You
might be knowing that using XML catalog import/export you can easlily
duplicate changes in other catalog too.

I think if you will use common catalog and try to mix multiple stores
under single commerce server database, you will face lot of problems
in future.

Good Luck
Dinesh Chadha
