Publish profiles on web services?
|
|

| We use MSCS 2002 + SP3 + FP1.
When we use business desk for our site (based on the starter site),
on the "Publish profiles screen we see 3 places where to publish profiles:
- the web site itself
- catalog web service
- marketing web service
Publishing profiles on the web site itself works.
When trying to publish profiles on the web services (that seems
strange to me: do we really need it?), we recieve the following error:
Publish profiles failed.
The refresh page on the site could not be accessed. The returned error
is: 404 Not Found
After some investigation we finded out that business desk calls
"RefreshApp.asp" page. This page is present on the web site itself, but
is not present in web services folders.
Do we really need to publish profiles on the web services?
Please, advice.

| No - you do not need to publish profiles to the CatalogWebService or
MarketingWebService. The publish profiles page enumerates all applications
associated with the site (including the FP1 management web services); but
profiles should only be published to your runtime site.
Thanks,
David
