FP Form security issue
|
|
| Peter Afonin 2004-02-07, 10:36 am |
| Hello:
I created a form in Frontpage 2003 that collects information from the user
and submits it to the email address. When I publish it on my localhost -
everything works great. However, when I publish it to my web hosting
provider's server every time I click Submit it prompts me (or anyone) for
the Username and password for this site.
Logically, since this form works fine on my machine, there is nothing wrong
with the form itself, it has something to do with security on provider's
server. However, I don't have this problem with the other similar forms, I
tried this with two different providers - one Windows, another Unix - and
both couldn't find out what was going on. We tried to remove all security
from the sites and give all permissions - this still didn't help. I'm using
a main valid e-mail address for the site, so this is not an issue either.
Even tried to recreate an account and reinstall FP extensions.
Did anybody else have similar problem? This is a very weird one.
I would appreciate your comments.
Thank you,
--

| The only people who can help you are the Network Admins at your hosting
service. Bring it to their attention.

| You are attempting to use the FP 2002 File Upload to an Email Address instead of a file location on your server (<!--webbot
bot="FileUpload"...) - not possible
File Upload requires the FP2002 SE, a host that allows file uploads, and must be set up in the Online server per
http://support.microsoft.com/defaul...&Product=fp2002

| Thank you very much, Stefan. You're correct. I removed the upload component
for now, and it works OK.

I too am having the same problem on an Apache with
Redhat. But it happens on every page. After uninstalling,
cleaning out my web pages and reinstalling extensions,
then only publishing my home page, it still brought up
the password box.
I did bring this up with the hosting service, and they
are at a loss. Can you provide more info?
