Problem on port 80
|
|
| Bill Herman 2004-10-22, 5:49 pm |
| I can get FP 2003 to connect to my webserver, when I change the server to a
port other than 80, but when trying to connect to it on port 80, it will not
connect. It gives me the server error message, and The server sent a
response that frontpage could not parse.

| Mark Fitzpatrick 2004-10-22, 5:49 pm |
| Have you checked and made sure that there isn't a firewall or other program
blocking port 80? Some firewall programs will simply block access to port 80
for the http protocol but not other ports. It could also be that something
else is trying to serve on port 80 for some reason.
Hope this helps,

| ....plus, if referring to a broadband cable host, they may have port 80
blocked.
The OP really hasn't provided enough info.

| The server in question is part of the same firewall rule that our other
webserver is on. Port 80 is open to it, and actually I got it to work on
port 80, but now it is only working on the default websites, not on any of
the Virtual Sites that I have. (Which is really the ones I need FP to work
on)

| You need to refer to the documentation of the firewall vendor, or contact
their support. Not enough info for us to provide an answer.

| Well, if it were a Firewall problem, I would refer to my Firewall
documentation, since it is not, I won't.
I have connected to both servers through Port 80, but it will only connect
to the default websites, no virtual ones. (IE. I have a virtual site under
my default site, it will connect properly, through the firewall, to the
default site, but not to any of the Virtual Websites that I have set up.)
