Hello.

I´ve been trying to find an official MS document that can give me the answer
but perhaps I can get the info from this group.

I´m currently setting up a few bladeservers running win2003 with fpse 2002.
These servers will be the substitute for several old NT4/win 2000 servers
with various versions of FPSE installed that are going to be retired.

My concerns are regarding the different versions of FP installed on the 500+
clients. Can users that are running FP 98, 2000 ETC connect and publish to a
server running FPSE 2002 without any problems? I´m aware that the other way
around (newer frontpage older extensions on server) would create a problem
depending on which functions that you wish to use in frontpage.

In short:
* Is FPSE 2002 on IIS6 compatible with older versions of FP, and do any of
you have an official document from MS on this subject?

Thank you in advance,

/Tobbe

Most of what you are looking for is in
http://www.microsoft.com/servicepro...rs/fpse2002.asp
and
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/...us/default.mspx

In general users of client software (FP 98, 2000, 2002, 2003) should all be able to use the FP 2002 SE in a Win platform but the
features available to them will vary w/ their client software

Thanks for your input Stefan.

I´m glad to hear that the server extensions support all older FP versions.

The whitepaper can also prove to be a good resource even though I can´t find
any info on the FP-FPSE compability in that document. The reference to the
sharepoint team services site is a bit dim to me, since I´m unclear on the
relationship between Sharepoint and FP....but I guess it will clear up in
the future.

Thanks again,

/Tobbe
