I have started from scratch 5 times to create a new home page. Now I am
completely shut out.
Error messages are in 4 main groups:
FrontPage 5.0 Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions_WebPost not found

FrontPage 5.0 Microsoft FrontPage 5.0 Microsoft FrontPage Server
Extensions_faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.1.2600.2180, fault address
FrontPage 5.0 Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions_(OS Error #-1073741819
Message: exception occurred
FrontPage 5.0 Microsoft FrontPage Server Extensions_Error #80002 Message:
System exception: access violation System exception: access violation

The shutdowns seem to occur when I try to save.

With the exception of the WebPost not found which started in August, and has
not stop me producing a new web, the only new thing that I have done before
the shut downs ocurred was to insert a GIF animated banner into my
Theme/Insert banner on page. I know this is inserted with a Webot, so
presumably this uses FrontPage extensions. But now, it seems any item, even
bullets, shuts down when I try to save.

Can anyone tell me if it is acceptable/not acceptable to place an animated
banner in themes? I prefer to do it this way, because it reduces file
size??!!

I have uninstalled, rebooted the computer, & reinstalled FrontPage.

As far as the 'ntdll.dll' file is concerned, I had thought of renaming the
extension to 'old', but I find that this file is located at four different
places on my hard drive, so I am not sure how this would work.

At the moment I am at a complete standstill, so I would appreciated any
help, partial or otherwise, that anyone can give.

Have you tried the usual repairs in the sequence below:
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
Usually in C:\WINDOWS\Temp and %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temp
- in FP 2003 you need to look in the super hidden folder
%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\FrontPageTempDir
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
Usually in %USERPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache
3) Run a Repair on IE
(see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=318378 )
4) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, MS Office and your Video card
(Windows Update and Office Update sites, plus your video card supplier site)
5) Open FP and Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins,
6) Open your FP Web/Site and run a Tools Recalculate Hyperlinks

PS
Animated gifs are not supported by themes as banner or buttons
(and will become non-animated once FP adds the Nav view text to the gif)
