No option to configure server extensions
|
|
| newsgroup user 2004-02-13, 5:34 pm |
| For anyone who wants to help,
I am creating virtual directories on a server running Win 2k AS, IIS 5, and using FrontPage 2000 Extensions.
For some reason, after I create the Virtual Directories, I am not given an option to Configure Server Extensions. I go to Properties>>All Tasks and only have Permissions Wizard as an option.
Is this some type of permissioning issue?

| Are the virtual directories pointing to the correct folders?

| Yes. The virtual directories are pointing to the correct folders. I have checked a few times.
Not sure if this helps, but I can browse the virutal directory web pages just fine. But still no option to confgure server extensions.

As far as I understand Virtual Directories, you add them to Virtual Web Servers. They
are not independent entities in the left-hand pane. You configure Etensions on a per
Virtual Web Server, basis, and all Virtual Directories under that VWS use the same FPSE.
Bottom line, you should not expect to be able to configure FPSE on your Virtual Directories.

| Tom - I just rebooted the server, and I now have the option to configure the extensions. I've never heard of such behavior, have you?

| In my experience, there are all sorts of strange behaviors with computers
that a reboot will cure. ;-)
