My IIS discussion web on my local PC which had been working started giving me FP component error on a new post. I believe it may be related to the fact that I FP edited some borders and posts not in FP http://localhost/test1/discweb but in FP c://inetpu
b/wwwroot/test1/discweb. All tasks check extensions showed all ok despite error.

The reason I think this is I set up a new discussion web, made a post ok, and then FP edited one of the borders using http & it took another post ok, but when I FP edited the border using c:inetpub I immediately got the FP component error when trying a po
st. In all cases, however, all tasks check extensions showed

Following is net of this:
1. I think I got confused because I couldn't find the _borders & _ disc42 folders in http://localhost/test1/discweb
I had tools/web settings/show hidden checked but it wasn't showing. I've since tried unchecking, letting it recalc, and
re-checking, and I now am able to get these to show.
2. Why does FP editing in c://inetpub/wwwroot screw up the FP extensions?
3. Is there any way I can recover as I'd like to have to avoid re-building the web which had been working

From now on, I will only use http://local host for anything FP extension related.

Thanks & regards, Ron

I see that to get borders & _disc42 folder to show for editing purposes, I have to be in folders view. I might not have been in that mode & didn't seem them when I concluded I had to edit them out of Windows Explorer dbl click on C:inetpub to open Front
Page.
