Hello,

I am trying to get a hit counter running on my web site. I've read a
lot of the posts here and think I have come up with what the difficulty may
be. When I began setup of the website, I did a lot of the work by hand
directly on the webserver. So, I never did any kind of a publish from a
computer on the network to the IIS based http server. My website resides
in the wwwroot directory on the server (IIS 6.0 On Win2003). The server
extensions are enabled on the web server. I now use FP 2003 for all the web
page design work and am still working directly on the server.

I attempted to install the web component for the hit counter on the main
page. I get the component (I think) to install and have a tag on the page
that reads [Hit Counter]. I save the page and look at in the browser and
apparently the server component never runs... I see the tag instead of the
counter. I believe this is related to the fact that I never published the
page to the server with an http publish. Please correct me if I am wrong,
I'm guessing based on what I've read in this forum.

My question boils down to whether or not there is an easy way to get the
hit counter working under these conditions. I'd like to provide this
service to the web page viewers.

Thank you in advance.

Requires http publish to a server running the FP server extensions. If you
aren't running a web server or extensions on your local computer, you can't
test it. Publish it to your host and it will work (if they permissions set
correctly).
