Email Form Results
|
|
|
| I cannot get my form results to be sent via email. I am
nearly positive it is set up correctly, but each time I
get this error:
The FrontPage Server Extensions have not been configured
to send e-mail. Please direct your system administrator or
Internet Service Provider to the instructions in 'Setting
Up Your E-mail Options on Windows' or 'Setting up Email
options on UNIX' in the Server Extensions Resource Kit.
For additional information, click the article number below
to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Extensions Resource Kit (SERK)
My web host says they are set up properly. Then I read on
the MS site the following:
NOTE: This error message may appear if you do not set a
value for both the SMTPHost and the SendMailCommand
parameters in the Microsoft Console Manager. Which command
you use depends on whether you are running a CERN- or an
ISAPI-based server.
I don't know what to do with this information to fix my
problem. Thanks for any input.

| Hi Phil,
Do you get this error when you're saving your form page locally? Does it ask if you want to delete the email address and tell you all that stuff you quoted about the server extensions? If so, I get the same thing because I don't have my local copy of t
he server extensions configured for a mail server. I simply click NO to the question, and then when I publish to the live site everything works fine.
Hope that helps,
Pat

| Pat,
I happens exactly as you said, but when I post it doesn't
work. My host says everything is fine on their end. Any
other ideas?

| Simple test
Open the online site in FP
- Modify the form properties to just save results to an existing file in your _private folder (remove the email address) - save page
& test the form in browser
- Add the Email address back in - save page & test the form in browser
If it only fails w/ the Email address in the form, the host does not have Email Transport enable correctly or could be blocking your
email address (if it is outside of the domain)

| I've been having the exact same problem. I tried the suggestion above to go into the online web and delete the e-mail address, but I still get the same error. Any ideas of what to try?

| Hi Pat,
I get the same messages as you and just as with your
form, mine works fine at the live site. It's only when
it's sent via email that I get the message
(paraphrased) "FrontPage Server Extensions cannot be
Viewed on This Page." Any ideas on how to get the page to
work after being emailed? Thanks.
