Setting up an F.P. Server on my local PC

| Using F.P. 2003, I'm considering setting up my own server for testing. I've decided that the Server Extensions for F.P. 2002 will do the job. I have downloaded the 2002 Server Extensions, but they won't install until I have IIS 4.0 or later installed. Is
this a part of Windows 2002 Server, or can I download it free? Is what I'm trying to do realistic, or should I just forget the whole thing and use an ISP Server that supports the Server Extensions?

| IIS 4 is for Windows NT 4 server, and can be downloaded from MS as part of
the NT 4 option pack.
IIS 5 is for Windows 2002 server, and comes with the O/S.
IIS 6 is for Windows 2003 server, and comes with the O/S.
IIS 5.1 is for Windows XP Pro and comes with the O/S. There is no server
available with Windows XP Home.

| I'm running XP Home, so I guess if I upgrade to Pro, I'll be home free. Right?

| I find the IIS server in XP PRO to be very buggy. For the best of it, try to
get your hans on Windows 2000 or 2003 server. You will have full control and
in most cases everything will work.

| for one thing, there are no "FP 2003 extensions - the 2002 extensions are it.
I think IIS is a separate component that runs on Win2K and up. or Personal Web
Server on Windows 98.

| I'm using IIS server on XP Pro for my development webs, and have never found
it to be buggy.

| Works like a charm for me, even when I'm coding php with mysql server.
Larry, can you provide any examples of how XP's IIS server is buggy
especially compared to the same operation on W2K/3 Server? They should
operate exactly the same, with the exception of the number of individual
sites (1 vs. many) and number of simultaneous connections (10 vs.
unlimited).
