Error message when trying to publish:"Cannot open file ....vti_pvt\service.cnf fo

| Hi,
I haven't been able to publish my FP98 site as I get the following message at the very end:
Server error: Cannot open file "C:\My Docs\My Webs\suzgoldphoto\_vti_pvt\service.cnf" for writing.
Also as it seems to be uploading pages, I keep getting asked to enter a password for my server every couple of minutes.
I actually contacted microsoft about this some time ago and they determined it was a problem with our server.
The server co. said they saw no problems from their end and that it had to be a firewall on my computer.
However, I don't have a firewall. I let the whole thing go and never got a solution.
Hope someone can help please!
Thank you.

| Find and delete the file service.cnf in C:\My Docs\My Webs\suzgoldphoto\_vti_pvt\
FYI
The FP web at C:\My Docs\My Webs\suzgoldphoto is a disc based web, not a server based web

| Hi Stefan,
Thanks a million for responding!!!
However, I think I looked for a solution previously and renamed the service file with old at the end as that's all I see, other than a shortcut to "service" and one to "services", both don't go anywhere.
So should I delete the service.old file now or will that not help? I don't see any other one there.
Also, I don't really know I'm afraid what the implication is that my web is disc based, not server based - I guess it just means that all the files are stored locally on my hard-drive and that maybe my web-host/server would not be the one to ask about the
problem?
Would really love hearing back from you if poss.
Thanks so much,
Suzanne.
