form confirmation emails are truncated
|
|
| Msumner 2004-05-24, 4:37 pm |
| when a form is submitted the confirmation page displays correctly, but the email that is created is being truncated. It seems limited to the total line length when you view the html source code of the confirmation page. ie the complete form does not get
emailed to me.

| is this an update for my share point or is this an update I need to apply to all clients?

| I tried the office update as suggested in one article but I do not have officexp installed on my webserver. I went back and loaded office xp and tried update and it would then accept officexp sp3 was this correct?

| Looks like you need to install Microsoft Office XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) on your PC

| The patch is only applicable to FP 2002 (which is a MSO XP family product)

| I have installed on my web server all officeXp updates sp3 included that update had available. I even installed them local clients that recieve the emails that are being truncated no change the email is still limited to 1 line.
Would you suggest building my own confirmation page or have I not applied the service packs correctly???
frontpage is not installed on the web server only 2002 server extensions
or
back up to server extensions 2000???
| |
| Stefan B Rusynko 2004-05-25, 4:37 pm |
| That's a different problem
If the email is truncated after 1 line it is usually because of duplicate or bad form field names
(field names w/ spaces/punctuation are not allowed)
- provide a URL to the form online
The server does not need the FP client software installed

I also have tried this on my workstation that I use for test. The confirmation page is not truncating. It still truncates on my production machine. you can view the source code of the confirmation and it has carrige returns, the prduction machince is s
till putting everthing as continuous line.
here is the link. I do not think it is the form formating -
form is at www.nationsbestsports.com select memeber login use jim / nbs as user and password
navigate to market registration and select first form for 2004 athletic market registration.
thanks, mike

| a second form is at
www.nationsbestsports.com
use vendor log in page nbsvendor / nbs
nav. to online registration - 2004 fall market - > Program

| I don't see any field name issues (but you may want to try shortening the 2 long ones)
Also rename all your files and folders to remove all spaces
- that breaks links as they are escaped to %20 instead of spaces
Your page at
By "confirmation" page I think you mean the saved results file in http://216.224.232.51/_private/form_results.htm
- What does that have in it?
- you do not have a custom confirmation page set in your form properties in FP
- could be the use of an IP address http://216.224.232.51 (caused by your logon script) for the web (rather than a domain name
http://nationsbestsports.com) and sending mail to the domain name at @nationsbestsports.com may be contributing to your truncated
messages

| Stefan,
Thanks for all the help so far.
The info in private does contain the results of the confirmation, but I do not understand the comments about the mail and sending to domain etc.
I used the same email structure on my test machine. it is on my local network the web server is on a DMZ of a firewall.
216.224... is the ip of my firewall.
I am at a loss why the production unit did not accept the update like the test unit.
as far as log on script. I have not put any script that I know of... unless it was generated for me.

| My comment was related to when I enter in browser http://www.nationsbestsports.com/ it redirects to http://216.224.232.51/ from
your script and
<body onLoad="MM_goToURL('parent','http://216.224.232.51');return document.MM_returnValue">

| we are currently redirecting from an old site to our new site being hosted in house.
do you think it would be worth a shot removing extensions 2002
| |
| Stefan B Rusynko 2004-05-25, 4:37 pm |
| No
- since the FP SE are required for the forms handler
(unless you want to use a CGI handler)
But my guess is it's your redirection somehow affecting the SMTP mail handler
Try creating a form in the root web on the original domain server at http://www.nationsbestsports.com/ and setting it to send to
email and file

| I put my test server on line and other than changing my network setting form confirmaitons work.
I still think it was something that the updates did not apply.

the workstation does not have a site for Sharepoint Admin. I can access it but but it does not show in IIS manager
