Author FrontPage 2000 probs - Upgrade or not?

I have been using FrontPage 2000 to keep my small business
website updated. I can no longer open or publish to my
website and get the following error message:

Server Error: Unable to access configuration for Microsoft
Internet Information Server.

I recently went to Comcast cable modem with a Linksys
router. I believe the prob may be with the Personal web
server conflicting with the router but I'm not smart
enough to figure it out. I also understand that in later
versions of FrontPage, you don't need PWS. To upgrade to
current version of FrontPage requires 2000 or XP and I
have Windows 98SE. Is the upgrades worth the hassle or is
there an easy fix?

I loaded FrontPage 2000 yesterday on another computer
which is on the same network and was able to open my
website and edit it directly. However today I get
the 'above' error message. I've rebooted numerous times
with no success.

I've read through numerous FAQ's but no help. Any help
would be greatly appreciated.

Comcast may be blocking port 80 to prevent you from hosting a site locally
- FP requires port 80
- check w/ them
Your default linksys settings should not be blocking FP or port 80, but you may need to check the documentation for your setting
- also any firewall software may be blocking FP

The issues will be the same for any version of FP trying to access a remote site

Checked with Comcast and they say they don't block Port
80. Gave me a list of ones they do block. They
recommended disconnecting the router and firewall to see
if prob goes away. Firewall shouldn't be a prob since it
worked before and asked if FP can access net (I say yes).
Router shouldn't be a prob because cable modem goes
directly to computer I'm using and then to router but I
will try it.

I need to go back to 'Networking 101'. When I disconnect
my Cat5 from my main computer into my router, I no longer
access the net. I'll have to think about my config
settings.

My mistake. My cable modem goes into the router and then
to the computers. It went directly to my main computer
before I installed the router. I will take the router out
of service and see if this solves things.

Recheck your firewall software or settings
- before you gave FP permissions thru presumably dialup (direct access to host IP)
- now you are going to your host IP thru a router IP
