Author Simplest way to set up Frontpage server?

2004-05-30, 10:46 am

Used to be, Frontpage came with a personal server.
Seems to be removed in latest FP2003.
I think they want me to buy Windows Server2003 and install
the Sharepoint services.
My IT guy installed it but I'm not sure he did it right
and I'm reluctant to spend another $1000 of IT support
time trying to configure this unnecessarily complicated
offering.
For a small workgroup to share files with Frontpage on an
intranet, what's a reasonable way to do it?
Should I find an old version of Frontpge and install the
personal server?

newsgroups)

You do not use any previous version of the FP web server or PWS.
FP2003 only works with Win2K Pro SP3 (min) or WinXP.
Win2K Pro comes with IIS 5, which is the web server.
WinXP Home does not come with a web server, nor does it support a MS web
server.
WinXP Pro comes with IIS 5.1 as the web server.
