Search not working after installing FP Server Extension
|
|
|
| hi
I installed FP Server Extension on my Win XP Pro machine
and when i try to do a search it comes back with the
following message still
"FrontPage Run-Time Component Page
You have submitted a form or followed a link to a page
that requires a web server and the FrontPage Server
Extensions to function properly.
This form or other FrontPage component will work
correctly if you publish this web to a web server that
has the FrontPage Server Extensions installed.
Click the <Back> arrow to return to the previous page."
What am I doing wrong?

| Are you running a server based site under localhost?
Did you create an index catalog for the site under IIS?

Stefan,
Nowhere in this conversation has sraja used the term "configure". I
suspect that he has installed the FPSE, but has not configured his site
to use them. He will continue to get that message until he does
configure the site.

| Hollis,
so what do you mean by configure? What would I need to
get working with IIS and Index for the Search tool?
I have setup so far my folder as the web with index
service to catalog those pages on the published site.
Any Help? Did I miss something

Yes, you did miss something. Back in IIS ver 5, you would open the IIS
Management Console, expand the IIS server icon, select your site from
the list, right-click it, choose All Tasks, and then Configure Server
Extensions.
On a Windows XP workstation, for which you have installed the IIS
component, you right-click the My Computer Icon, choose Manage, and
expand the Services folder in the left hand column. Expand the IIS
icon, the web site folder, and right-click your site, choose All Tasks,
and then Configure Server Extensions. Let it rip.
It may ask you to Tighten security. We used to say not to do that, but
I don't know what the current philosophy on this is.

| Hi
I have already done that I believe but I currently do not
see that option there under all tasks to configure server
I only see the following:
Check Server Extension
Open with FP
Recalculate Web
Remove Server Extension
Thanks

| You are apparently using FP 2000 server extensions, and according to the
list you show, it is already configured.

| I have already done that I believe but I currently do not

| I only see the following:
| Check Server Extension
| Open with FP
| Recalculate Web
| Remove Server Extension

I infer from the list that the site has been configured.
Now, you need to post the text of the .idq file for your search form.
It will be found in the _vti_scripts directory in the root of your web.
It is a short file so just include the text in your next post.

No conflict--its just that if you try to use a feature that is in
FP2002 SE, and not in FPSE2K, then it won't work.

What kind of page is the search 'form' contained in? I have been
assuming that you dropped the search component onto a page, or used the
search template. There are, of course, other choices. If not one of
those two things, are you doing an ADO or other query that uses server
scripting?

| Hi
I added web component web search to a search page I
created. I have tried restarting the index as well
I see catalog directory created in the folder where I
publish my pages on.
