User getting "service.lck" write error
|

| I have a user who is getting the "cannot open service.lck
for writing" error. Over the phone, I have instructed
her to delete the file. However, she gets "access
denied" each time she tries, even when we tried to delete
from DOS. She did not copy the web from a CD, so that
isn't the problem. I think the file is just corrupted,
but we can't get it deleted or renamed. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Cathy

| try www.sysinternals.com ..
They have a utility called 'whouses'. It should show if any application
has a lock on that file. (Se sure to indiciate it isn't a executable
module) Sounds like a lock or security issue. Use filemonitor (same
guys) to see any security related access failes. (APpear as ACCESS_DENIED)
hth!
