Need to hire someone for Frontpage server problems.
|
|
|
| I Am trying to publish live site to local host. Error mesage:
FP has detected a websever conflict in port 80, which has
extinsions for the FP personal web server but is running a
MS-IIS/5.1 sever. FP requires that you install the FP sever
extensions on this new sever before using it.
I have posted to the discussion group and followed all the suggestions and I still have the same problem with FrontPage.
I seem to be missing some files or they are damaged and I can not access them.
I guess I need to hire a guru to fix my problem. Is there anyone in the Greater Sacramento area of Calif. that would be able to help??

| Stefan.
I downloaded and installed all the extensions and updates and I think applied them I'm not sure. I went to the adminastration went to default web and checked server extensions they checked no problems found then recalculated web. Tried to open web in fron
tpage and still get the conflect on port 80 two servers running. Would an uninstall of frontpage and XP-Pro and reinstall do any good??
Still think I need Professional hands-on help I just don't understand every thing I don't know about this stuff.
Thanks

| Ted,
I also had this problem. I was not able to resolve the warning, however please let me explain how I believe this error to occur. I had an earlier version of FrontPage installed (FP97). I then installed VB6.0 with the associated programs. When I starte
d to program in ASP, I started to get these errors. Of course, I also installed MSDE for the VB6.0 and ASP programs. As you know MSDE installs a version of SQL. From the look of things, SQL also uses port 80. This is where the conflict arises. To go
further, I took advantage of Microsof's offer of viewing videos about .NET and recieved a free issue of Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Standard. I installed this and had the same problem. Whenever I would load a ASP.NET page, I would get the error showing
up. I would push "cancel" on the error several times and the program would load within the ASP.NET framework. After working with ASP.NET / Visual Basic.NET I decided to install FP2003. I purchased the upgrade and installed it. I soon found out that the
error (port 80) prevented several items within FP2003 from working (Like downloading a web to a server). After searching the MSKnowledgeBase for solutions, I thought re-loading FPServerExtensions may help. I did this and it did help. I am still gettin
g the error, and I still have to press cancel several times to eliminate the error; however now I can load the pages to my server and they work correctly. Now I have Microsoft SharePoint Administrator installed by downloading the FPSE. I don't know if t
his will help you or not, however, perhaps this will direct your efforts in another direction and you may be able to resolve this issue.
