Setting up IIS5 with FP extensions

| I know that this will likely sound like a dumb question
to most users, but I seem to be getting nowhere so I have
to ask it.
After looking at all 15 pages of posted questions here, I
haven't seen this question asked, so I'll assume I've
missed something very simple.
I've been asked to host a Win 2000 server with IIS and FP
2000extensions. I've successfully installed the software
and extensions and can use the IIS MMC snap-in to do
things like creating a server extension web, add a server
extension administrator, etc. However, in none of the
documentation I 've downloaded or read have I been able
to figure out how to set up the Author/User accounts on
the Win2K/IIS5 box.
Sure I can create a new Server Extensions Web site. I
can open FrontPage on a client PC and using the admin
username and PW to the server hosting the FP extensions,
can publish to it.
Where I'm at a loss is understanding the procedure that I
use to create the individual separate accounts on the
website that will allow student "A" to publish to their
own web directory (and only their own), student "B" to
publish to theirs, as well as Instructor (Admin) to see
all of these student accounts.
Do I create sub-webs on the web site, use ACL to create
individual accounts for the users, then create a share
for each sub-web?
From the manner of most of the postings I've read, it
doesn't sound like it is a very complex process, leaving
me to believe I've overlooked a part of the bigger
picture. Do I need to install FrontPage on the server to
interact with IIS5/FP extension? Is there some type of
GUI or snap-in to administer the user accounts for FP on
the server?
Any input you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
Ken.

| Under FP2000 extensions, you have to create your author/user account using Windows User app, then
apply to the individual web via IIS MMC / FP extensions. I no longer have W2K running, so I can't
give the direct steps.

| One thing though, don't ever share the webs. The webs need to be published
to from within FrontPage. Enabling them as a network share is usually a big
no-no, not only security wise (i watched an entire server array get
destroyed from a virus because one of the administrative faculty shared his
web server directory and then worked on it from his infected computer).
Basically, the users are created as you would other users, then added to
individual webs through FP. The IIS MMC utility only allows the adding of an
existing account as an admin. FP can connect to the subweb and be used to
manage adding users as authors. This will also set all the appropriate ACLs.
You won't want to touch the ACLs yourself unless you absolutely have to
because the Server Extension settings are rather touchy and one wrong
setting can cause hours of extra cleanup work.
Hope this helps,
