FP2002 Server Extensions and IIS 6.0
|
|
|
| I am having a problem getting a FrontPage site return even a simple page
(postinfo.html) unless I have the web site setup to run under the
"MSSharePointAppPool". I can't open the site in FrontPage either unless
it's running in MSSharePointAppPool, I get the following error:
"The server sent a response which FrontPage could not parse. If you are
trying to connect to a FrontPage server, check with the server's
administrator to make sure the FrontPage server extensions are installed
properly".
This is on a new server with a fresh install of IIS 6.0 and just the
postinfo.html page in the site.
Is there anyone else having this issue?
Please let me know.
Thanks,
Paul

| When I set up my Windows 2003 server and created my webs, I didn't have to do anything with the
MSSharePointAppPool directly, the webs that need to be listed, where listed automatically when I
created the application under the Home Directory for the web. I am only created the application for
those web that required ASP functionality.
Are you seeing something different from the above?

| I found the problem. We had tightened security on the "Web Server
Extensions" folder under Program Files to just the System and Administrators
group under IIS 5.0 and it worked without any problem. I was using the same
tightened security under IIS 6.0 and it doesn't like that. When I added
local "users" group, it started working fine even if the web site is not
running under the MSSharePointAppPool.
Thanks for the feedback, I would leave the permissions alone now.
