When I upgraded XP Professional to the new service pack, local host was
invalidated, apparently for security reasons. I can no longer access IIS to
set up local host, and all setup information was lost. So that when I try to
access local host through Internet Explorer to see how the three sites I am
developing are working, Internet Explorer does no longer finds them. I can no
longer check my popups or other custom features of my sites. Any way this
situation can be reverted?

Web server functionality may not work correctly after you install Windows XP
Service Pack 2 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=883607

SYMPTOMS
Assume that you use one of the following programs on a Microsoft Windows XP
Professional-based computer that is configured as a Web server:
The FrontPage 2000 Server Extensions for Microsoft
The FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions for Microsoft
SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft
In this scenario, your computer may not work correctly as a Web server after
you upgrade to Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (SP2). For
example, you may not be able to connect to a Web site that is hosted on the
Web server that is running on the Windows XP SP2-based computer.
