Author cannot publish web with frontpage extension

Everything's fine when I am publishing my page using the
ftp:// address provided on my ISP helpsite (BT). But after adding a form in
our site, we will need to publish to the server which have Frontpage
Extensions installed. Thus via http://frontpage.btconnect.com, but the
following messages
appeared:

" You do not have the permission to do this operation. Ask your web site
administrator to change your permissions and then try again, or log on with a
user accout that has this permission. To log on with a different user
account click OK"

After entering my username and the password, the
following messages pop up:

"Unable to open "http://frontpage.btconnect.com"; Server
error: The web server at "http://frontpage.btconnect.com";
does not appear to have the FrontPage Server Extension
installed.
Possible causes:
1. The web server may not have the Frontpage Server Extension installed
2. The web server maybe temporarily out of service
3. If you connecting through a proxy server, the proxy settings may be
incorrect
4. An error may have occurred in the web server.
If this server does not support the Frontpage Server Extensions, Frontpage
may still be able to publish to the server via FTP"

I rang the BT helpdesk, it seems that i m their first customer to publish
web using frontpage, nobody could have solved my problem.
Is there a way to know whether frontpage server extension is installed on
their server?
Pls could anyone help me, thanks

If this is the same website, then using FTP will have corrupted the
extensions, if they were installed on the site. You will to get the
extensions installed, or checked.

The BTconnect site does not mention FrontPage extensions; I assume the
extensions are a very new innovation for BT (they were promised in 1998, and
were not there in 2002), and BTs front line staff have not been trained on
them.

I cannot tell if extensions are installed or not, since the site responds
with a not-authorised page, and may be just used for authorisation only -
then redirects to your site.

Thanks Ron!

BT claimed that after adding the "web publisher"package to our account, we
would be able use Frontpage extension. Now, I regret joining them (but a
12month min. contract applied!) as no further help or information has been
given. (hours of useless phone call has been made n the BT helpline staff
responded by 'teaching' u drag n copy the files from the ftp folder to your
desktop.......they seems to know nothing(they admit!) and problems still
remain unsolved)

If the previous publishing via FTP have corrupted the extensions, how can i
get the extensions installed or checked? Does it meant use HTTP instead of
FTP if your website require server extensions?

Thanks for your help!

You will need to contact the host (BT) to run a health check/repair on the
extensions, or to reinstall them on your account. And yes, it means use
http instead of FTP.
