|
|
|
| i have a website that has front page extensions. i have an access database
that needs to have write access. the hosting company says that they cannot
change permissions because of the front page extensions. how do i reset the
read/write permissions on my directory?

| You can't, the host must do it. And, no matter what they tell you, they can
indeed change the permissions if they want to. Perhaps they just don't know
how.

| If the database is in the fpdb folder, and you have Access, you could try
this:
In Access create a new, small database (one table, one column, no records),
and save it where it will be easily found.
Open the web in FrontPage, and import the new database. FrontPage will
offer to move the database to the fpdb folder - allow FP to do so.
FrontPage will usually (but not always) reset the permissions on the fpdb
folder correctly during the import process.
The new database can be deleted from the web after the import.
