| We have a Win2k machine which was upgraded from NT4.
I have had problems with permissions for FPSE fron the start on this NT4
machine, only members of Domain Admins (or Admins) could publish/open web
sites with Frontpage. So I upgraded it to Win2k.
We had to create this machine as a 2k DC to be able to complete the upgrade.
I mistankenly configured it as the new DC in the same domain which caused all
kinds of chaos with our other NT4 machines! I should have just created a new
domain! Anyway, that's besides the point. When I had completed the upgrade it
solved the original problems with FPSE having to be members of Admins groups,
it would work fine with User permissions. Yay.
Then I had to configure Restricted Groups so I could setup some domain
trusts. Since I have configured the restricted groups I have had problems
with FPSE again. Once again, only members of Admins groups can publish/open
web sites?
So, my questions are, why can only admins publish? What permissions should
the physical directory have? What groups should the frontpage user belong to?
Does resitrcted groups cause any problems here?
Finally, is there a good FPSE deployment guide somewhere, especially for
ISPs? The few paragraphs in the Win2k Resource Guide is a bit thin!
