Hit Counter will not update

It's me again

I have FP server extensions installed on my IIS host. My test website is in
the InetPub folder, having been published from another machine on the
network. All indications are that server extensions have been installed
correctly (when I run Sharepoint Administrator), but the hit counter web
component that I inserted on the home page will not update when I do a page
refresh. I am stumped.
