| Check w/ your host to make sure they support subwebs under FP and allow publishing of subwebs w/o publishing the root web
- some hosts don't
A subweb is a free standing web in FP and all links to / from it are treated as external links
- a subweb can be published to its root or to an independent location
- subweb do not share any design time tools / parameters w/ the root web
(you would need to create say a nav view, nav bars, etc and apply a theme in each subweb)
- you can link to / from any web / subweb
Learn about subwebs before you convert anything
- create a sample web (from one of the templates) and create a subweb w/i it
- understand the impact on your root web
To create a subweb you right click the folder in Folder List and select Convert to Web
- to convert it back to a folder you select the subweb and right click it in Folder List to select Convert to Folder
A subweb must start at the root level, but you can also nest subwebs
So you could make folder1, folder2,... folder100 all subwebs, and even progressively make subfolder1, sub-subfolder1, and
sub-sub-subfolder1 subwebs under those subwebs, if you needed to
But just because you have folders doesn't mean they need to be or should be subwebs
- your decision on breaking apart the web into subwebs should be content grouping driven and based on creating manageable and
related chunks of your web
- you need to look at how many of your files are html vs. media files (images, etc) - View Reports
- if may be that just moving your large media to a folder and converting that will serve you just as web
