Can't get rid of 2000 extensions so 2002 will install

| I have an issue similar to the one described by Mike Pederson on 9/1/2005
except that I want to update FP2000 extensions to FP2002 except that I have
WinXP Pro/SR-2 and I'm running FrontPage 2003. I have attempted to
"uninstall" the 2000 exptensions and install the 2002 (downloaded
fpse02_x86_ENG.exe) and have had no success at all.
I've tried the following so far:
1. uninstall IIS and run the fpse02 program (gets an error message that it
can't find IIS, but successfully installs),
2. install IIS and run FP2002 program again (selecting the repair feature).
Completes successfully but when I go to the IIS Details window the only
selection is for the FP2000 extensions.
How do I get the 2000 extensions off my server and get IIS to recognize the
2002 extensions?

| I left the 2000 extensions installed, and installed 2002 extensions over
them without any problems.

| Uninstall the 2002 FP SE (your bad install w/o IIS is part of the problem)
- if you installed FP 2000 SE from the FP install remove it
(In Control Panel - Add Remove Programs - FP - Change)
In Control Panel - Add Remove Programs - Windows Components - IIS
- unselect FP 2000 SE and let it reinstall/repair IIS w/o FP 2000 SE
The in IIS MMC stop / restart IIS
Install the FP 2002 SE and the latest Update for it
- again in IIS MMC stop / restart IIS

Headed in the right direction I think, but, as written, the instructions
didn't work. Step by step here's what happened.

Did this without any problem.

FP2000 was not found in the Control Panel Add/remove program window
> In Control Panel - Add Remove Programs - Windows Components - IIS - unselect FP 2000 SE and let it reinstall/repair IIS w/o FP 2000 SE
Unselected FP00 SE's and upon inspection of the IIS Detail window, FP00 SE's
were still listed including the information about it's size. (It seems that
when other apps are uninstalled the size is reset to zero).

In addition to the FrontPage folder for FP2003, I found the following in
Programs,
frontpage/version 3.0/bin and 4 files:
fp98win.exe
fp98sadm.exe
fpsvradm.exe
fpsvrwin.exe
I'm open to suggestions at this point.

| The last folder you mentioned is a part of Windows and not the FP SE
If in Control Panel - Add Remove Programs - FrontPage (not FP SE) is not there
- then you may have installed it as part of MS Office suite
- or do not have FrontPage installed
Put your FP CD in and run it (setup)
- you should get an option to Change (Custom - unselect FP 2000 SE)

| Front Page 2003 is in Control Panel | Add Remove, but no other versions
appear, ergo, I can't remove them.
