Author Server extensions unable to access the file httpd.conf

I have just switched servers. When I try to edit my webpages with FrontPage,
I get an error message:

The server extensions were unable to access the file "httpd.conf". Please
check the file permissions.

My hosting service doesn't know what this means. Can someone please tell me
what needs to be done to fix this?

You hosting service is running on Apache. Check if they are using UNIX
or Windows. They need to make the httpd.conf readable by the UNIX user
your website is running as. You might want to redirect your post to
the microsoft.public.frontpage.extensions.unix group and check the
Ready-to-Run Software site for information on the FPSE's for UNIX
(http://www.rtr.com/fpsupport).
