Unable to open 'http://localhost'...

| Using a brand new Dell8600... Win XP sp2... Properly Installed IIS + FP
Server Extentions...
When I try to publish from my internet web site I receive the following
message:
Unable to open 'http://localhost'.
Server error: The Web server at "http://localhost" does not appear to have
Windows SharePoint Services installed.
etc.........
BUT: When I check the the:
Computer Management (local), WebSites, default Web Sites, then I right
click>>>All tasks>>> Check Server Extentions and the result bis " No Problem
Found".
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP, this is crazy!!!

| I *believe* it has to do with the Windows Firewall Settings and/or the other
security settings provided with WinXP SP2. You might try a Windows XP
Newsgroup.

| Hi- I also have this problem- has anybody posted or knows of a solution. I don't understand the post concerning the firewall since I have turned it off and nothing changes.
I am new to this forum- so excuse me if this not the correct format. | |
