I am using FP 2000 on a XP with sp2 and trying to publish to a remote XP
with sp2. I receive this message "A web doesn't exist at
http://cpq4010/mywebs. Would you like FrontPage to create a web at that
location?" If I click OK, then I receive this message "The server could not
complete your request". On the remote XP, I can publish from a web to
another web locally.
I followed Q296640 to do some tests and
http://10.0.184/_vti_bin/shtml.dll/index.htm displays an error. I thought
upgrading FP server extensions to 2002 might fix the problem. So, I just
removed FP server extensions 2000 and installed 2002. I still get the same
errors. If I test http://10.0.184/_vti_bin/shtml.dll/index.htm it displays
"FrontPage Error. User: please report details to this site's webmaster.
Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details."
Any suggestions?

The location http://cpq4010 indicates a local host (server running on your PC)
Is the root web at http://cpq4010 a FP SE web?
- if not install and apply the FP SE
If it is, open it and in FP and use Tools Server Admin to create the subweb(s) you want
- per your example: mywebs
Then you can publish to it from a remote web

Hi Stefan,

Thank you for the reply. I do have FP SE running on cpqnc4010. I did create
a folder for the test. Once agagin, I created another folder call test with
index.htm. If I open http://cpqnc4010/test from other computers, the index
page displays. When do the publish from another XP to cpqnc4010 remotely, I
receive the same error.

I just remove FP 2000 and FP SE and installed FP 2003 with FT SE 2003. I
still get the same problem? What 's next?

Creating a folder is not the same as converting a folder to a subweb or creating a subweb
Again create your subweb in the FP SE admin page of the root web (from FP Tools Server Admin)

OK, make sure we are in the same page. When I create a subweb, I do this:
run IIS>Default web site, right-click on it, select Server Extensions Web.
Then follow the instruction to create a subweb.

If this is not the way should be, please give me the details. By the way,
how do you run FPSE admin page or FP Tools Server Admin? The FPSE used to be
in the Administration Tools but I don't have it any more.

2 Ways under the FP 2020 SE
Open IIS, right click the root web for Properties - Server Extensions 2002 - Settings
Administration - Root Web - Create a Subweb

Or Open the root web in FP and use from the menu Tools Administration Create a Subweb
