Server error: The URL '_vti_bin' is invalid.
|
|
|
| Using FrontPage 2003, I am trying to publish my website from remote to local
because I had to make changes on the remote site. When I try to publish, the
error message :The URL _vti_bin' is invalid. It may refer to a nonexistent
file or folder, or refer to a valid file or folder that not in the current
web." comes up and ends the session. I am brand new to publishing and don't
know what this means or how to fix it. Thanks.

| Do you have a web site set up on your local machine, with IIS and server
extensions installed?

| Tom,
I originally designed the website in FrontPage 2003 on my local machine. I
then uploaded to the remote server and had to make a few changes there. So,
the answer is yes, I have a web site set up on my local machine, but you lost
me re: the IIS and server extensions.

| IIS is the web server, frontpage server extensions are installed to the web
server.
You must have a server based (not disk-based) web set up on your local
machine.
Do you have those installed and functioning?

| Tom, The local web site is stored on my computer hard drive. The remote web
site is on a remote server that does have frontpage server extensions
installed. Does that answer the question you are asking? Thanks for your
help. Paige
